Rock Star Camp Band Beat Raiders

Be a part of Rock Star Camp and have the time of your life!

Rock Star Camp is much more than a typical summer band camp. It is a very unique, enriching experience for its participants. We’ve been told by many parents that “the magic” of the camp is our philosophy of getting out of the way and allowing the campers to discover and create from their own ideas and influences.

This approach encourages leadership, confidence and personal development.

Rock Star Camp not only provides a venue for fun, creativity and team building, but also provides the campers with a fundamental knowledge of the music industry for those who wish to pursue a career in music.

All levels of experience welcome.

"Rock Star Camp is the best experience I ever had to date!"

About the camp

Over the Course of 2 weeks our campers will:

  • Create their own band
  • Write their own songs
  • Learn the instrument of their choice
  • Record in a professional studio
  • Design CD and poster artwork
  • Learn about the music industry
  • Rock a live show

Week 1

During the first week the campers form their bands, get some tips and training on their instrument of choice, learn crucial skills including instrument setup and maintenance, critical listening, copyright, notes and scales and beats and measures. They write their songs, work out the arrangements and prepare for studio recording.

Week 2

The bands setup and record in Fat Dog’s world class studio. Recording principles and tips are covered. Each band member is multi tracked and the songs are produced and mixed. While this is happening, the band works on their photo shoot, CD artwork, bio and preps for their live show at the end of the week.

THE PROGRAM

Work at your own pace

No experience? No problem.

We cover the basics including music lessons, instrument training, working a crowd and preparing your stage show. We aren’t copying any one else. You are writing your own songs and performing at the level you are able to play at.

So you want to do rap, metal, pop, country, folk, blues? No problem. We have been producing music since 1987 and have worked in every style imaginable. We will guide you in understanding the intricacies of each style and making your songs rock in whichever genre you choose to play.

Learn to write a hit song

You will learn the secrets of writing hit songs and the formulas expected by major radio stations and more importantly your potential fans. We will listen and learn about song writing based on your favorite artists. Every song you hear is a lesson if you know what to listen for!

Sound like the pros

The camp is housed at Fat Dog Studios, a world class recording studio and taught by instructors and music producers with decades of experience recording thousands of songs.

You will learn studio tricks and techniques used by award winning producers. We house some of the finest equipment available at any level and know how to use it.

The awesome power of teamwork

Being in a band is a team event. We will discuss and manage common issues that arise in group situations. At Rock Star Camp we focus on maintaining a fun group based atmosphere where everyone has a voice- just like any band should be run!

Create in a creative space

The Number 1 comment we hear when people walk into our space for the first time is “Wow!”.
We have created a true live venue environment right on our recording floor. We regularly host events here for the public. Where better to practice and work out your set? We would be happy to provide a tour any time you’d like.
